COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
Kilbrittain met West Cork champions, Ballineen, in the county quarter final in Bandon on January 2nd, 1927. Kilbrittain dominated the game against a young, inexperienced Ballineen side, leading by 4-0 to 1-0 at half time. They continued their dominance in the second half and surged to a comprehensive 7-5 to 1-0 victory. Seán Murphy, Innishannon, was the referee.
In the county semi-final, Kilbrittain drew with College Rovers but lost the replay.
SOUTH-WEST CORK JUNIOR HURLING DRAW 1926
Junior Hurling – Kilbrittain v Innishannon, Knockavilla v Clonakilty; Kinsale a bye
SW CHAMPIONSHIP
Round 1 - Kilbrittain 5-2 Innishannon 1-0, April 11th in Bandon.
Semi-final - Kilbrittain 4-2 Kinsale 0-2, , June 20th in Kinsale Junction
A small crowd because of counter-attractions watched an uninteresting game. A much stronger Kilbrittain dominated all through, leading at half time by 2-1 to 0-1. The game had been advertised for Knockavilla and many supporters had to make the double journey. The playing field was completely unsuited to good hurling. Referee was Ted Finn, Knockavilla.

LAST WEST CORK BOARD JUNIOR HURLING FINAL 1926
The West Cork Board junior hurling final rested between Dohenys, who won the football, and Owen Roes of Ballineen. The game was played in the Town Park, Clonakilty on December 12th.
Ballineen missed numerous chances in the first half but still led by 1-1 to nil at the break. Ballineen again dominated the second half, scoring five more goals. The match finished in semi-darkness, with Owen Roes winning by 6-1 to nil.
“The Dunmanway custodian had the sympathy of the crowd when he jumped to catch a ball that rolled across the line.”
“It is regrettable that Dunmanway was unable to field a better team for the hurling match in Clonakilty last Sunday. However our local Gaels never made a speciality of this form of pastime – football being their forte. It is alleged that the rival team, representing Ballineen, in reality included the pick of Cork Nemo Rangers H.C., Cloughduv and Clonakilty. The present GAA rules seem very lax.”(“Dunmanway Notes”)
This was the last-ever junior hurling final played under the jurisdiction of the old West Cork Committee.
County Championship
Ballineen were beaten by SW champions, Kilbrittain, in the county championship by 7-5 to 1-0, with Sean Murphy, Innishannon, as referee.
FOOTBALL FINAL
Kilbrittain completed the SW double when they again beat Clonakilty in the South West football final replay, 0-4 to 1-0. They advanced to the county final against Geraldines of Cork, played in Bandon. Amazingly, the game again ended in a draw, as did the replay in Bandon. Geraldines won the third game in Upton.

Paddy Barry
"With defenders clearing and thousands cheering,
And the leather veering in summer air
When a gallant forward moves swiftly onward
As the dust is rising in the crowded square,
With stout heart beating and backs retreating,
With movement fleeting - we'll not forget:
Like an eagle swooping and the goalie stooping
To pick the sliotar from inside the net."
